What brought you to CrossFit?
My wife saw that my current workout routine was boring me and that I was having a hard time being consistent with my workouts. She had just discovered CrossFit and thought I would like it. For our 11th anniversary, she bought me 10 PT sessions with Thomas to get me started.
What was your first impression?
My first impression was 'this is f*%#ing hard'. My second impression was 'I like it!'
How has that impression changed?
There are still days when I end up on the floor in a fetal position. But I've come a long way and I've improved a lot in so many ways. I've never missed a workout because 'I didn't feel like coming'. So, the only change is that I've drank the Kool Aid and I love it even more.
What was your best day at CrossFit?
Honestly, every day is a great day and I have a hard time distinguishing one as standing above all others.
What are some of your accomplishments?
As I said, I've achieved so much in the last 3 years. I still struggle with my upper body strength so I PR quite easily since I have nowhere to go but up. I've improved my mobility a lot too. It was necessary to practice a lot of the moves that we do in Crossfit. I've lost weight by working with Katrina learning about my macros.
I've done The Open twice now. From my first year to my second, I jumped up over 5000 places. The main reason for that is I Rx'd 3 workouts this year whereas I did all 5 workouts scaled in my first year.
What are your new goals?
After this my first Open, I just knew I had to get stronger and try to do some workouts Rx. After my second, I was able to pinpoint some more specific weaknesses. So for next year, I want to be able to improve my gymnastics movements. I want to be able to do more pull-ups, handstand push ups and maybe even be able to do a muscle up.
What do you love the most about CFNAC?
I wish I had a more unique answer for this one but it's the community that keeps me engaged and coming back. That includes my fellow members, the fantastic coaches and our wonderful gym owners.
