What brought you to CrossFit?
Personal referral: I was visiting my uncle in the States 2 years ago when he introduced me to CrossFit. He took me to a class at the CrossFit gym he attends and I was immediately interested. I liked the class structure and the idea of group fitness – there is a community mentality that we are all in it together.
What was your first impression?
I showed up a bit early when I went to my intro session and I was able to watch a class going on at the time, I literally thought to myself – “Wow, how is anyone able to finish these workouts?”
How has that impression changed?
My impression remains the same. There are still days when I think I cannot finish the planned WOD program but I have learned with the support from the coaches and the other people in the class, you will get through it and maybe even surprise yourself. I promise you will not die, no matter how much you think you will ;)
What was your best day at CrossFit?
My best day was in week 1 of Friday Night Lights. Just showing up to the event and seeing how many people were there to support us, made me feel like I was really part of a community. I liked cheering on other people in the gym and having them in my corner when it was my turn.
What are some of your accomplishments?
I was deathly afraid of heights when I joined, and the thought of climbing that rope really freaked me out. The day I was able to climb it was just as much a mental accomplishment as a physical one.
What are your new goals?
I would like to join the illusive bar muscle up club.
What do you love most about CFNAC? From the time you walk in the front door to the time you leave, everyone there is so welcoming and that is what encourages me to keep going each week.
